History

Fireside Lodge Healthcare Center is a short-term, long-term, and rehabilitative healthcare facility strongly rooted in a 50-year tradition of meeting the medical, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of our residents.  Operating under the motto, “Home is where the hearth is,” the Fireside family knows we are working in our residents’ homes, as opposed to residents living in our place of work.

Fireside Lodge, founded by the McGrath family, has been family-owned and family-operated for three generations.  This largely contributes to the exceptional attention to detail and personalized care given to each resident and extended to our residents’ friends and families.  We are committed to providing top-quality care at an affordable price—assuring our residents are healthy, happy, and satisfied.

Dr. Thomas T. McGrath, D.O., and his wife, Virginia, established Fireside Lodge in the 1960s.  Dr. McGrath, instrumental in the creation of Fort Worth’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, was committed to the Osteopathic mission of treating patients throughout lifetimes.  An innovator who cared about his patients, Dr. McGrath set out to develop a facility where people could go to receive quality care in a comfortable, home-like setting, whether their continuum of care was to recover from an illness or injury or necessitated long-term care.  Fireside Lodge set itself apart from ordinary 1960’s hospitals by offering services tailored to every individual’s needs in an environment with the comforts of home.

We still hold ourselves to the same high standards today, priding ourselves on working closely with leading experts in transitional, short-term and long-term care.

We look forward to serving you with an excellence that comes from over 50 years of experience.
